HUMMER . How to cancel a CAN BUS bulb failure warning with a bulb missing.?

How to cancel a CAN BUS bulb failure warning with a bulb missing.? I have a 1997 Jaguar XJ6, which I have upgraded the rear lights to the later XJ8 crystal type which look much nicer. Unfortunately they differ slightly, in that the XJ8 uses one less tail light bulb each side, and houses a reflecter instead. Because of this, I would either have to drill a hole in the reflecter to house the bulb, or the bulb warning light on the dashboard will show. Is there any other way of going about this? I take it the canbus system detects resistance in the circuit - could I replace the bulb with a resister or does it not work like that? If I could - what resistance should it be? (The tail lights are 5w each side). Thanks in advance. car insurance.

Mechanic said I need a wiring harness because my car is dying randomly? My mechanic told me I need a wiring harness for my car because the oil leak I had (that they fixed) saturated the wires. So there's one that needs a wiring harness and that will prevent the car from dying again. It loses power but starts back up everytime. Note everything has been replaced except the tranny. Anyone know what wiring harness I would need? I've researched and found there are several for different purposes. car insurance.

An Auto Meter gauge cluster displays other gauge measurements such as oil pressure, volt readings and vacuum pressure. You can install an Auto Meter cluster in place of your stock speedometer and RPM dashboard cluster. The Auto Meter cluster install will take a short amount of time and will leave a professional look, allowing you to monitor other important aspects of your engine.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Small flat-head screwdriver
Phillips head screwdriver
T-15 Torx bit

Step by Step :
1
Use a small flat-head screwdriver to insert into the retaining clip in your dashboard. There should be a retaining clip in the light knob of your vehicle. This will allow you to remove the headlight knob from the dashboard before removing the rest of the dash.
2
Look for a set of two screws or more that secure the trim panel onto the dashboard. Use a Torx 15 bit or Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the Torx screws.
3
Pull the trim panel of the dashboard out using your hands. Pull the panel carefully and make sure to release the panel from the clips in the dash.
4
Take the four screws off of the gauge cluster that holds the cluster to the dash of the vehicle. Use a Torx 15 bit to loosen the Torx screws.

Remove the two plastic covers from the driver and passenger's side door latches with the panel removal tool.
7
Remove the two 10 mm hexagonal screws then remove the door latch garnish from the driver and passenger's side. Remove the two headliner support clips with the panel removal tool. Pull out the driver's side headline hole plug. Loosen the three locking claws then open the cover. Remove the 10 mm hexagon screw then dislodge the locking claw. Finally, remove the headliner hole plug. Do the same for the passenger's side headliner hole plug.
8
Loosen the locking claw from the driver's side quarter trim panel with the panel removal tool. Loosen and remove the push-pin clip. Remove the 10 mm hexagonal screw then remove the three locking clips. Wiggle the panel out slightly. Use a foam block to hold the panel in place to prevent scratching it. Pull the top segment of the weather door seal away from the headliner. Repeat these steps for the passenger's side. Lower the driver and passenger's side front headliner.
9
Position a towel under the headliner to catch any falling metal shavings. Clean the roof panel with a roof preparation solution compound. Apply paper masking tape to the roof panel. Move the template from the kit onto the roof then drill a 3/16-inch pilot hole in the appropriate location. Dislodge and remove the template and paper masking tape from the roof.

Step by Step :
10
Use a 9/16-inch tapered drill bit to create a pilot hole in the roof. Deburr the top and bottom surface of the pilot hole. Clean all of the metal shavings from the top of the vehicle with a shop vac. Remove the towel from around the headliner. Clean all of the metal shavings from the top of the headliner with the shop vac. Insert the O-ring from the kit onto the connector, making sure to properly seat the connector. Insert the paper washer onto the threaded socket connector. Feed the green and black wires of the terminals into the pilot hole on the roof, starting from the exterior of the vehicle.

Step by Step :
11
Apply a 1/8-inch bead of body sealant around the pilot hole drilled in the roof. Install the connector-washer assembly onto the roof. Seal the paper washer to the roof with the body sealant compound. Feed the large fender washer onto the green and black wires until it reaches the threaded segment of the connector.

Step by Step :
12
Feed the jam nuts over the green and black wires, then hand-tighten the jam nut and fender washer onto the connector. Align the fender washer flush against the roof. Place the connector with the red dot on the connector facing backwards. Grasp the top portion of the connector with a 17 mm open-end wrench then tighten the jam nut. Repeat for the second jam nut. Install vinyl tubing over the green and black wires.

Step by Step :
13
Install the connector onto the accessory wire harness. Plug the connector pin and green wire into the knockout location of the connector. Plug the connector pin with the black wire into the knockout location of the connector. Cut off 1 inch of foam tape and set it aside to use later. Run the accessory wire harness along the vehicle's side wire harness on the headliner with two strips of foam tape.

Step by Step :
14
Position the white six-pin connector on the driver's side of the A-pillar. Insert the accessory wire harness connector into the vehicle connector on the A-pillar. Run the accessory wire harness through the A-pillar next to the vehicle wire harness. Fasten the wire harness with five wire ties and the 1-inch foam tape strip. Cut any excess off the wire ties.

Step by Step :
15

Step by Step :
16
Clean the roof surface with a roof preparation solution before installing the air dam. Position the air dam/light bar onto the roof rack assembly then align the assembly's holes onto the roof rack. Thread the screws through the roof rack's guideposts. Hand-tighten the screws carefully and do not over-tighten them. Tighten all four screws with a Torx screwdriver.

Step by Step :
17
Line up the plug connector key with the socket then connect the wiring harness

to the vehicle roof connector. Route the wire harness between the air dam and the bracket. Insert the provided fuse and relay in the appropriate locations detailed in the engine bay diagram that came with your instruction manual.

Step by Step :
18
Re-connect the negative battery terminal with the wrench. Remove the lamp covers. Turn the ignition key to the "IG" position. Flip on the power switch to the head lamps. Press the "Off Road" light switch to confirm that it turns on and off. Inspect the green indicator light to make sure it turns on. Confirm that the back light switch turns on. Verify the accuracy of the light aiming pattern. Adjust the lamps with a 12 mm open-end wrench.

Step by Step :
19
Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Repeat the beginning steps to reassemble the vehicle's components. Check that the panels fit together evenly. Confirm that the headliner fits properly. Position the Torx wrench inside the plastic materials bag with the instruction manual. Place the materials bag in the glove box for safe keeping. Re-mount the lamp covers to the lamp fixture. Conduct an airbag test check. Attach the scan tool connector to the diagnostic connector of the vehicle on the lower dashboard and turn on the ignition.

For transmission repairs, take your car to a reputable transmission specialist and ask the technician to diagnose the trouble and give you an estimate of the costs. Do not let the technician take the thing apart. Once your transmission is in pieces, you're a sitting duck. Have the specialist drive the car, listen to it, ask you questions about its history and its symptoms, and give you his or her ideas. The technician may say, "You may just need your bands tightened, or you may need a new transmission; I can't tell until I open it up." Fine. Ask for estimates for both jobs and, if the prognosis is expensive, get additional estimates. You'd see several doctors before choosing one for major surgery, wouldn't you? Here are some guidelines for getting the best deal on major transmission work: * Get three estimates, or more if the first three vary widely. Discard the highest estimates. Discard a very low one, too: If it seems way out of line with the others, it may be a hustle. Then return to the place with the fairest price and/or the best vibes. Of course, an enthusiastic recommendation from someone you know who is fairly knowledgeable about cars is usually worth extra points when you're deciding. But I'd get at least one other estimate anyway. 0 After the work is underway, ask to be notified about what they find when they open it up. Will it be a simple adjustment or a major rebuild? Get the estimated costs on the receipt, signed by you, before the actual work begins, and ask to be called if that estimate changes because they uncover other problems. 0 Ask them to save the parts they replace so that you can see what you paid for. Consumer laws in many states hold the repair facility responsible for failing to provide a written estimate, for failing to notify the customer if the estimate increases radically because more problems have been uncovered, and for failing to turn over parts that have been replaced when you've asked that they be saved. Now go home, cross your fingers, and wait for the operation to be over. Of course, you may still be ripped off, but you'll know that you've done everything possible to prevent it. And because you've been so canny about estimates, open about shopping around, familiar with the transmission itself (read Chapter 9), and insistent about written estimates and such, you just might scare someone who would like to cheat you into doing a good job and charging you properly for it. If this whole thing sounds paranoid, so be it. The fact is that a few bad apples give the honest, hard-working, car-loving, competent transmission specialists a lot of competition. So go ahead and be paranoid — it can't hurt. You haven't done anything to insult the shop; you've just been careful. Chapter 22 has lots of advice about finding a good repair facility and keeping one happy, and it tells you how to get satisfaction on complaints if you get ripped off anyway. .Chapter 17: What to Do If Your Transmission Stops Running Smoothly How to keep from driving your transmission crazy 804 Car Insurance toyota rav4 1998 sportutilityconvertible2d 165712

Driving your vehicle with expertise can prevent many of the most common causes of transmission failure. This involves getting into the proper gearto reduce the strain on the engine and the transmission, and not riding your clutch. A good driver with a manual transmission learns to watch the tachometer, or just "feel" the car's need for more power or more speed, and shift into the proper gear for each occasion. But many drivers with automatic transmissions just shift into Drive and go up steep hills, carry heavy loads, and bounce into jackrabbit starts, happily oblivious to the fact that even automatic transmissions have gear selectors that provide one or two lower gears for these occasions. An automatic transmission works with gears, too. If you're in low gear, you're transmitting more power to your rear wheels, and your transmission feels the strain. If you attempt to speed in a low gear, you strain the transmission even more. On the other hand, if you attempt to climb hills in high gear, you force the car to make the effort in a gear that lacks the power for the job. The result: more strain. To avoid unnecessary wear and tear and extend the life of your transmission, whether it's manual or automatic, use the following shifting strategies: *** When you need a sudden burst of speed, use passing gear. On vehicles with an automatic transmission, passing gear provides the same kind of increased power that downshifting a manual transmission does. You use passing gear when you're already in high gear and need an extra burst of power to pass a car or enter a freeway. If you've been traveling at less than 50 mph, the sudden flooring of the accelerator makes your car downshift automatically from High to Second, which provides more power by speeding up the engine. When you release the pedal, the car goes back to High. Use Overdrive (or Fifth gear on a manual transmission), if you have it, when you're travelling along steadily at a high speed. With Overdrive or Fifth, you have an extra, higher gear that allows your rear wheels to turn even faster while maintaining the same engine speed. After you're really moving, shifting into Overdrive means that you can move at the same speed while the engine turns more slowly and consumes less fuel. Shift to higher gears as soon as your speed enters their range. (Your owner's manual should tell you the range of speed for each gear.) There's no need to supply extra power when it's not needed. However, if traffic slows and you feel the engine straining (called lugging), downshift to allow the lower gears to provide more power. When the engine is lugging, shift into a lower gear so that it can turn faster and carry you along with less strain. After you get everything moving freely, return to a higher gear. Use lower gears for heavy loads and steep hills. If you come to a steep hill — or if you're carrying four kids, two dogs, and everything you'll need for a month in the country — go for the lower gears instead of trying to haul the whole mess as fast as you can. Then shift back up again to coast down the hill. This way, the power goes toward carrying the load ratherthan toward maintaining speed. Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System
